Q: What is a Li-Po battery?
A:Lithium batteries are found in many electronic devices, such as cell phones and laptops. When compared to NiMh or NiCd batteries, lithium batteries have a greater capacity at roughly
the same size and weight. Over the past couple of years, lithium batteries have migrated into the hobby market, and are now used extensively in electric helicopters, boats, cars, and airplanes.
Due to their light weight and high battery capacity, they are ideal for RC helicopter aircrafts, as they provide longer flight time than their outdated counterparts.
Q:What is Series?
A:An individual Lithium Polymer cell has a nominal voltage of 3.7 volts (vs. 1.2volts per cell for Ni-Mhs). When the cells are connected in series, the output
voltage multiplies.
1 cell = 3.7 V
2 cells in series = 3.7x2=7.4 V
3 cells in series = 3.7x3=11.1 V
4 cells in series = 3.7x4=14.8V
Q: What does '3S4P' mean?
A:Every lithium polymer battery consists of a set of individual cells, which can be wired in either series or parallel. Cells wired in series (positive to negative) increase the overall voltage of
the pack, while cells wired in parallel increase the capacity. As an e 3S4P pack consists of 3 cells wired in series, and each array of three cells is wired in parallel four times. This means that
the pack consists of twelve cells in total. Because all 3S batteries consist of the same number of cells wired in series, they all have the same voltage.
Q: How does an ambient temperature influence battery performance?
A:Under low temperature the battery discharge rate will obviously reduce. At -20℃ charge speed will greatly slow down as electrolyte is at its freezing point. Generally charge efficiency
is in direct proportion to temperature rising. But the battery materials will be damaged when the temperature rises to 45 0℃ or higher. That leads to a great shortening of the battery service life.
Q:How long can a rechargeable lipo be stored?
A:Battery has a self-discharge ability during store for its electrochemistry construction. Every month a battery self-discharge rate is various depending on the
battery design, environment and etc. However, it will leads to an increase of the battey‘s internal resistance because of the taking place of various processes during the storage. It therefore leads to a reduction in load capability.
Q: What do possibly results in battery unchargeable?
A:(1)Charger is failure to output current.
(2)Wrong battery connection, or abnormity inner parts or circuit protector.
(3) There are 0V cells.
(4)External factors such as low temperature leads to extremely low charge rate.
Q:The Lithium Polymer Cautions:
A:Lithium Polymer Batteries and packs that are abused may cause damage to the pack or the device resulting in personal injury.
(1) Do not expose the battery to extreme heat
(2) Do not short circuit battery
(3) Do not puncture or modify the battery or pack
(4)Do not immerse the battery in water
(5) Never reverse charge the battery
(6) Charge only with charger specified by equipment manufacturer
(7)Operating temperatures for charging are 0℃to 45 ℃
